I don't have a printer (or my printer is broken). Can I still apply online?

You will need to print out your Application Confirmation Slip and Examination Ticket, so please ensure that you have a color printer available when you complete your online application. (You can apply online using a computer outside your home or a smartphone, as long as a printer is available.)
*Please be sure to print your Application Confirmation Slip in color.

Can I apply using a computer at school, at a public institution (such as a library), an internet café or the like rather than my home computer?

Yes, you may.
However, you need to be able to view messages sent to the e-mail address that you provide in your application. You also need to ensure you have access to a color printer to print out your Application Confirmation Slip and other documents. Please be careful not to leave printed documents unattended, because they contain valuable personal information.
*Please be sure to print your Application Confirmation Slip in color.

Can I use a free email address (such as Yahoo! or Gmail) in my online application?

Yes, you may.

However, after completing your online application and paying the Application Fee, you will be sent automated email messages by the online application system. As part of its security measures, your email service provider may assign these messages to your spam/junk mail folder rather than your regular inbox, or the messages may not be delivered to you at all.

In such cases, APU and the online application system support desk may have no way of knowing that the messages did not reach you.

Please understand that such problems are related to your email service provider or mailer settings in your PC or mobile device, and cannot be fixed by APU or the online application system support desk.

Can I enter a cellphone email address in my online application?

Yes, you may.

However, links to web pages provided by email will need to be opened on a computer (or smartphone) browser. Also, please be sure that your settings allow the receipt of email messages from the (@52school.com and @apu.ac.jp) domain, so you can receive notification of completion of your online application, payment confirmation, notification of application number, and other messages.

There is no response when I click buttons on the screen, or pull-down menus don't display.

Please check that Cookies and JavaScript are enabled.
For details, please see "What browser settings do I need to check?" above.

Please refer to "What browser settings do I need to check?" above to check that you have enabled Cookies.
Also check that you are using one of the recommended browsers.

I completed my online application, but I haven't received a completion notification message by email.

There may be an error in the email address you entered.
Another possibility is that there is some problem with the mail server or mailer (computer, cellphone, etc.) settings. Moreover, the message may take some time to deliver depending on factors such as the transmission route and load on the mail server, so please be patient.
If the message still does not arrive, you can go to Check Application on the initial guidance page to confirm that your application is completed.

When I enter my name in Kanji (Chinese) characters, an error message appears.

If Kanji characters entered in your name, address, or other personal information cause an error, please use alternatives instead.

Examples: 髙木→高木, 山﨑→山崎, Ⅲ (Roman numeral character)→ III (Alphabet capital i)

My PC froze before I could complete the online application. How can I check that the application was lodged successfully?

If your computer froze on the personal information input page or confirmation page, the application will not have been lodged. Please re-do your application from the screening method selection page.
When you have completed the process, please also check that you receive the Online Application (Data Entry) Complete email message.

You can check that your application was lodged by using the Check Application function in the Online Application Manual.

Also, please check that you have entered your registration number in single-byte characters/full capitals.

After completing my online application, I found an error in the information I entered. Can I amend it?

Provided the application period has not ended yet, and you have not yet paid the Application Fee, you can start a new application and re-enter your information correctly.

In this case, please be sure to pay the Application Fee using the application number that is issued for your new application, not the original one.
You cannot alter any entries in your online application after you have paid the Application Fee.
