Application Registration Usage Guide

If you are applying for the first time, please confirm the following procedure, agree to the contents of "About Privacy Policy", and complete the application procedure from the MyPage button

For confirmation of application details and reprinting of each document, click the MyPage button to log in to My Page and check "STEP3 Confirmation of Registration".

　Step1. Confirm and prepare the environment required for application registration

In order to register your application under this system, you will need to confirm and prepare the following.

1.Recommended environment: For details on the recommended environment, please check here.

2.Mail address

Please register your email address when you register your application.

Please be sure to register one email address per person. One email address cannot be used by multiple people.

You can use the email address of your mobile phone, but the link screen included in the email text must be opened on your computer (smartphone, etc.). If you do not have an e-mail address, please obtain an e-mail address that can be used on a PC, smartphone, etc. before applying.

An email will be sent to you when there is a contact from the university after payment of the entrance examination fees. If you have set the domain specified reception, please set so that [@jmj.tmu.ac.jp][@52school.com] can be received.

Please use free mail at your own risk.
Please note that each notification email from this Internet application may be sorted into the junk email folder.
Depending on the anti-spam measures of the company that operates the mail service, each notification email from this Internet application may be judged as a virus or spam, and the email itself may not be delivered. In that case, the university cannot know that the email did not arrive. Please understand that this is a problem in the settings of the system or mailer (PC or mobile phone) on the mail service provider side.

3.Photo(Face photo data)

You must upload an ID photo in this internet application. Please note that application registration cannot be performed unless the ID photo (face photo) data has been uploaded.Before registration of application, please take your ID photo with a camera, etc. The photo may be taken using a digital camera, smartphone or tablet as long as it meets the following requirements. Photographs will be used for personal verification on the day of the test.

【About photo (face photo) data】
Your face photo must fulfill the conditions below.

Taken within the last 3 months. Color photograph (Not black-and-white), upper body/front, no hat, no background, no frame. Must be taken in front of a plain white, blue or grey background. If you wear prescription glasses on the day of the test, be sure to wear them when taking your photo. The data size must be more than 100 KB and less than 5 MB.The data format must be JPEG(filename extensions are jpg). ※ Examples of inappropriate pictures are provided below.

Not facing forward.(Your head is not centered horizontally, but tilted or rotated. )
The background is not plain. (there is scenery or a pattern in the background.)
The lighting is reflecting. (the light is reflecting in your face, glasses etc. and part of it cannot be seen.)
The picture is out of focus, blurred, or not clear.
Your bangs are covering your eyes.
Shadows are on your face.
Shadows are in the background.
Your face line is hidden with scarves or other head coverings.

4.Printer: Please prepare a printer that can print white A4 paper (preferably color/duplex printing). If you don't have it at home, you can use any printer that can print PDF files, such as schools, friends, and print services at convenience stores.

Please be sure to check the application guideline and application document before applying for registration.
Also, please confirm the important dates and times (application registration period, payment period for entrance examination fee, application document submission deadline) when applying.

You will have to pay the entrance examination fees after you register for an application, so please make sure you have enough time to apply. Also, please be sure to check in advance because business hours vary depending on facilities such as convenience stores and ATMs.
Please be sure to mail the application documents by "registered express delivery" (EMS, etc., from overseas) within the application period.

　Step3. Register application details and applicant information

Please refer to the How to Apply and enter the necessary information for application according to the instructions on the Internet application screen.

※Be sure to make a note of the reference number displayed on the application registration completion screen.

　Step4. Payment of Entrance Exam Fee

Please pay the entrance examination fee, etc. by the payment deadline using "Credit card", "Convenience store", "Bank ATM [Pay-easy payment]", "Net banking". In addition to the entrance examination fee, a service charge is required.

　Step5. Print and mail application documents

Print the application form, address label, etc., referring to the student application guidelines and application document.
Please attach an address label to a commercially available envelope, and send the application documents by registered express delivery (EMS, etc., from overseas) by mail within the application period. Please refer here for details.

　Application completed

About Privacy Policy

Tokyo Metropolitan University handles personal information strictly in accordance with laws and regulations as follows:

1. Personal information obtained through this admission selection including applicants’ names, addresses, entrance examination results, etc. will be used for the screening (processing applications, administrating selection, conducting selection, and announcing successful applicants) and admission procedures. Additionally, data obtained through this admission selection will be utilized for improvement of the quality of students’ learning and life at the university, analysis and improvement of admission selections and analysis of public relation activities, together with the results of follow-up surveys for students’ academic performances after enrollment and career pathway after graduation. The results of the survey and analysis may be published to inside and outside of the university after being converted into a format that individuals are not identified.

2. Personal information of successful applicants including names, addresses, entrance examination results, etc. that were obtained through this selection will be used for the procedures concerning a) academic affairs (school register, educational guidance, affiliation change, etc.), b) student support service (healthcare, employment support, tuition fee reduction/exemption, scholarship application, etc.), and c)clerical work for tuition collection.

3. All or some of the operations stated in 1. and 2. above may be outsourced to an agency under the strict and proper supervision of the university, taking necessary measures to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information.

4. Personal information relating to individual’s pass/ fail result and admission procedures, etc. (limited to the name and examination number for the Common Test for University Admission) shall be delivered to the National Center for University Entrance Examinations and other Japanese national and public universities.

5. To protect personal and privacy information, any documents and data that contain applicants’ personal information obtained through this admission selection will be strictly concealed and not be used for purposes other than those stated above.
